Enjoy a buffet breakfast at the hotel. Meet at the hotel lobby for our tour of the struggle against apartheid in Johannesburg and Soweto. No visit to South Africa is complete without a visit to the world-famous Apartheid Museum. The Apartheid Museum opened in 2001 and is acknowledged as the pre-eminent museum in the world dedicated to 20th-century South Africa, at the heart of which is the apartheid story.
This museum is a must-visit for one to understand what the real apartheid South Africa was like. It is a beacon of hope showing the world how the country is coming to terms with its oppressive past and building on the future.
We then leave the Apartheid Museum for Soweto. We will visit the home of Nelson Mandela, now a museum, as well as the site of the 1976 student uprising and the Hector Peterson Memorial. Enjoy lunch in one of the restaurants in Vilakazi Street which is known as the most famous street in the whole world where 2 NOBEL Peace Prize winners once lived.
