If you’re a fan of ancient temples (known as Wats) and buildings, then Northern Thailand (Chiang Mai and its surrounding areas) is a must-visit destination. With our 7 days Northern Thailand Discovery tour, you will be taken to visit a plethora of unique temple structures. This region is home to over three hundred temples, many of which are still actively used by Buddhist monks today. Whether you’re interested in exploring the rich history and culture of Thailand, or simply looking to admire the stunning architecture of these ancient buildings, Northern Thailand is a great place to start.

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrival in Chiang Mai
Dinner
Upon your arrival in Chiang Mai, our driver will meet and escort you to Chiangmai downtown with a brief introduction en route. Check in hotel.

Spend the rest of the day relaxing at your own leisure, exploring a sprawling modern city that has grown up around ancient Chiang Mai, ringed by a tangle of super highways. Overnight in Chiang Mai.
DAY 2: Chiang Mai City Tour
Breakfast & Lunch
08.00 AM: Star 7 days North Thailand with a visit to Wat Phra Singh, one of the most well-regarded examples of Lanna architecture and Wat Chediluang, which was originally a 280-feet high pagoda. Unfortunately, it was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545. Then, transfer to Warorot market by minivan to see and feel the real northern people’s pace of life. Lunch at restaurant.

In the afternoon, continue your 7 days in Northern Thailand tour to Doi Suthep temple, the most sacred temple upon the hill with an enormous mythological Nagas staircase of 306 steps. Inside the cloister is an intriguing copper chedi, topped by a five-tier gold parasol. Then return to hotel. Overnight at hotel in Chiangmai.

DAY 3: Chiang Mai – Doi Inthanon – Mae Sariang (210 km)
Breakfast & Lunch
After breakfast, head to the south of Chiang Mai to Doi Inthanon National Park, the highest peak in Thailand at 2,565 meters above the sea level. Drive along the excellent winding mountain roads through pine forest sceneries. Visit Thailand’s finest waterfalls, natural trails, Royal pagodas, and botanical gardens. Descend to Mae Chaem for a relaxing lunch at the local restaurant.

After lunch, continue passing through pine forests to reach Mae Sariang, near the border to Myanmar. Overnight at resort in Mae Sariang.
DAY 4: Mae Sariang – Mae Hong Son – Pai (278 km)
Breakfast & Lunch
After breakfast at hotel, leave Mae Sariang for Mae Hong Son, driving through narrow twisty curvy roads. Make a break on your way and visit a World War II museum. Visit Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu, the first temple of Mae Hong Son on the hilltop. Have lunch at a local restaurant.

After that, visiting Lod Cave, which means, “cave with a stream running through”, on a bamboo raft. Back on twisty curvy roads to Pai. Overnight in Pai.

Baan Santichon
DAY 5: Pai
Breakfast & Lunch
In the morning, visit Wat Mae Yen and a Chinese village at Baan Santichon. Then, drive up the hill to Yunlai, which is considered Pai’s viewpoint. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon visit Huay Sai Ngam Natural spring and return to hotel.

DAY 6: Pai – Chiang Mai (147 km)
Breakfast & Lunch
After breakfast, continue your 7 days in Northern Thailand visit Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, one of the most finest Lanna Temple. Then, transfer to Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao, former house of Emerald Buddha Image. Continue your itinerary to Ban Sao Nak, a beautiful Lanna House made of Golden Teak woods. Stop at Chedi Sao Lang, a unique temple with a combination of Lanna (Northern Thailand) and Burmese styles. Later on, transfer to the hotel for checking in.

Overnight in Lampang.
DAY 7: Chiang Mai departure
